An adjective to describe the band, what they look like, substance/style, how the band sell. Rebellious, superficial, popular, representation - is a construction, young, beautiful, sellable (function to image) and branding.

Blink 182 - Fact File - Analysis

About the band

Originally being a four piece band Blink 182 became a band in 1992.
Their image is rather edgy. They show a rebellious side, also quite radical, showing an intimidating presence. Talent, upbeat, young.

Genre: Alternative Rock

Target Audience (description with adjectives): Their target audience is similar to the band, with this they copy the bands clothing style. Blink 182 have a broad audience, with majority of their fans being in the wide age range of 20-40. The band have both male and female followers, some of who have followed their career from the start, and others being a new generation.

Style or Substance: Blink 182 are both style and substance, I don't think they would be as popular and talented if they didn't show both traits. When the band first joined together their style was fresh and edgy, this is something fans have picked up on and copied the band with. Blink also have a great deal of substance as their and iconic American band, with worldwide success.

Record Label (Mainstream, or Indie): Blink 182 have been signed to many different mainstream record labels (Cargo Music, Kung Fu, MCA, Geffen, Interscope and DGC.) During their early years as a band they did have a mainstream sound, but music has progressed (House music and pop music becoming more popular) their mainstream image has slightly slipped.

The 1975 - Fact File - Analysis - Sophie Bishop

About the band
The 1975 are consist of Matthew Healy, Adam Hann, George Daniel and Ross MacDonald. They were formed in Manchester, and collectively as a band play Bass, Guitar, Drums and Vocals.

Their image:
Rebellious, cool, young, angry, attractive, urban, edgy, retro, talented and modern.

Genre:
Indie Rock

Target Audience (description with adjectives):
Young Female/male audience, calm, cool, talented, care free, similar dress sense, skinny jeans, darker colour schemes, flannel shirts, messy hair styles, tattoos, piercings.

Style or Substance:
The audience would say both, collectively the cool, calm, care free style of the band mixed with the cool and relaxing vibes of the music. An outsider may say the style of being cool, becoming increasingly popular.

Record Label (Mainstream, or Indie):

The 1975 were turned down by a lot of record labels in the past, for not looking/sounding mainstream. But have now be signed to a label, Universal Records.

Music video
Published on the 20th of February 2013. A narrative video.

Name of song -

Chocolate

Cinematography:

Use of close-ups- The closeups are used throughout, to show the lip syncing, smoking, and to section of the body, so the music video appeals to a larger audience.

Editing:

The colour of the film is black and white, creating a very cool, somber and sad atmosphere and mood to the music video, complimenting the song. The music video has lip syncing in, and beat editing.

Synthesia:

''Were dressed in black head to toe'' - There costumes are a dark/black colour scheme.

How this is similar to our idea, and will inspire us:
This music video, has a main narrative throughout of a journey, as we would like to do with a train journey. It also carries the same mood that we want our music video to create, and present The Archetypes band.

The Chemical Brothers - Hey Girl, Hey Boy - hyper reality anaysis

An animation, of a skeleton, flickers with the girl, not reality.

The girl grown up, still seeing the skeleton within herself.

Different scenes.

Hands from the start.

Overlapping the skeleton over the film, flickering.

Almost comical.

Either a fear, or a fascination.
